Joanna Squier

[Joanna]

Joanna is a self taught artist and has been a technical illustrator for over 35 years. She grew up on Long Island New York. Her earliest training was as a technical illustrator for Grumman Aircraft Company, and doing text book illustrations for McGraw Hill Publishers, on college level textbooks. After moving to Port St. Lucie in 1978, she continued with the same work as a free-lance artist, and also worked for an Advertising company in Stuart, doing finished drawings and publications. Drawing near retirement from these companies, Joanna started pursuing her love of painting. She found this rewarding and profitable enough to start her own business full time. Aside from selling art work, she teaches drawing and painting classes in several places throughout Martin and St. Lucie Counties. Like other artists Joanna gladly donate work to local charities. Joanna has won Awards in Juried Art Shows as well as for Advertising. Invited to have a "One Man Show" on occasions and very pleased to be selected for juried shows at fine galleries such as the A.E.Backus Museum, Elliott Museum, The Fish House Art Gallery and the Cultural Court House, her works have been widely accepted. When working on a painting Joanna considers it a statement of thanksgiving for the beauty of the world in which we live. "Our garden is my favorite place to be, and I draw a lot of inspiration from the foliage and birds and butterflies I see there".
